Seed Technologies and your Farm
Corn producers today have more hybrid and technology options than ever before.  The opportunity to enhance yield potential through the use of seed treatments or trait bearing hybrids has been a major breakthrough in agriculture.  These advances have not only improved potential yields, but more importantly, improved yield stability over time.  Knowing where and when to use these technologies has become a major part of the hybrid selection process.  Talk to your PRIDE Seed Representative to determine which technologies make sense for your farm.

PRIDE G3 hybrids Better Roots, Stronger Plants and the Power to Yield
PRIDE G3 YieldGard VT Triple hybrids featuring the Roundup Ready crop safety yield advantage and Poncho 250 provide complete inside out protection from corn borer and corn rootworm to unlock real yield gains under stress conditions, including drought, due to a healthy root system.  Trials to date have shown a yield advantage with new YieldGard VT Triple when compared to YieldGard Plus, which already had a 14 bushel per acre advantage over conventional corn production systems.

GENUITYTM ROUNDUP READY - Unlock Your Yield Potential
PRIDE Roundup Ready corn hybrids and soybean varieties combine the best in yield potential with Roundup Ready technology.  The combination provides not only high end yield potential, but also high levels of crop safety and flexible broad-spectrum weed control in a simple to use system.  As with any crop production system, to attain the maximum benefit from Roundup Ready technology it is important to first plant Roundup Ready varieties and then treat with Roundup at the appropriate crop and weed growth stages and with the flexibility to manage around the weather.

Protecting Bt Technology is Everyone's Responsibility
In areas where corn borer infestation is moderate to high, the addition of a Bt gene has helped growers achieve their maximum yield potential.  PRIDE offers a full range of hybrids with Bt protection to provide the insurance you need against corn borer related yield losses.
Insect Resistance Management
To preserve the benefits of Bt corn and avoid the development of insect resistance to currently available BT technology, all corn growers are required and strongly urged to follow the steps listed below:

  • Plant a minimum 20% of corn acres with non-Bt corn and do not treat these acres with insecticides registered to control European corn borer
  • If the refuge is in the same field as the Bt corn, it should be planted in blocks on field edges or headlands or in strips of a minimum of 6 corn rows each.  DO NOT mix Bt and non-Bt seed as it increases the potential for resistance development.
  • In all cases, all Bt corn plants should be within 400 m (1/4 mile) of non-Bt corn (refuge).
  • The corn hybrid used in the non-Bt refuge area should be of similar maturity, growth and yield potential as that of the Bt hybrid.
  • Scout Bt corn fields for the presence of European corn borer feeding.  Contact your local seed supplier if higher than expected levels of corn borer feeding are observed.

LIBERTYLINK - Yield Potential and Exceptional Crop Safety
LibertyLink hybrids are bred to be tolerant to Liberty herbicide (glufosinate ammonium).  Liberty, a non-selective post-emergent herbicide provides fast, broad spectrum control of broadleaf weeds and grasses.  To take advantage of the LibertyLink system, plan on using both PRIDE LibertyLink hybrids and Liberty herbicide.  PRIDE LibertyLink hybrids feature high yield and grain quality potential. Use PRIDE LibertyLink hybrids either alone for their yield potential or as refuge hybrids where Liberty/Bt hybrids are being used.

Seed Treatments for Corn and Soybeans
Producers today have more options than ever before.  The opportunity to enhance yield potential through the use of seed treatments or trait bearing hybrids has been a major breakthrough.  These advances have not only improved potential yields, but more importantly, improved yield stability over time by reducing the impact of environmental stresses.

PONCHO  Protection Applied by PRIDE
Poncho is a revolutionary systemic insecticide seed treatment designed to protect corn seed as well as germinating and young corn plants from soil borne and surface feeding insects.

PONCHO 250
Research conducted by PRIDE Seeds has shown that a low rate Poncho 250 treatment provides excellent value to producers in  most corn production situations with trials results showing a 7 bu/acre average yield benefit over the past two growing seasons.

PONCHO 1250
The high rate Poncho 1250 treatment provides excellent protection from soil borne insects including corn rootworm.  Use Poncho 1250 seed treatment:

  • When planting corn on corn and wanting seed treatment protection from corn rootworm
  • Under very heavy insect infestation situations (example: very high chafer infestations on susceptible sandy soils)
  • As a seed treatment for refuge corn acres planted beside PRIDE G3 hybrids that feature YieldGard VT Triple technology to provide inside out protection against corn borer and corn rootworm.
